The endocannabinoid system
In addition to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabis contains a diverse array of other cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabigerol (CBG). Each of these compounds exhibits distinct pharmacological properties and interacts with the endocannabinoid system in unique ways. The endocannabinoid system, which comprises cannabinoid receptors, endogenous ligands, and metabolic enzymes, plays a critical role in regulating various physiological processes such as pain sensation, mood regulation, and immune response.
